Soil loss crisis (online)

Ploughing On Regardless

Almost all other issues are superficial by comparison to soil loss. So why don’t we talk about it? George Monbiot's latest column for The Guardian newspaper discusses the growing crisis of soil...and argues permaculture is part of the solution.

  1. Not returning nutrients to the soil equates to denatured soil, and not mulching soil equates to somewhere earthworms do not want to live, so not enough soil aeration, and overdoing the carrying capacity of the land leaves nations food bereft, and putting in pesticides is counter productive, killing the bees, giving us heart problems and diminishing our eyesight.

Agriculture is the primary industry. Must be time to stop turning soil into a powdered (dry or soggy) mess.
